Trick-or-treaters Tuesday can expect to get chills up their spine — and not just because they've gotten a fright.

For Halloween, the National Weather Service is predicting temperatures about 15 degrees below normal and the first accumulating snow of the season.

The snow is expected to fall mostly between 8 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. While Green Bay isn't expected to get more than an inch, it might still be wise to put on extra layers under or over your costume. A high of 38 , a low of 21, and possible wind chills in the teens and 20s are all forecast for Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service released statistics on Halloween weather ahead of expected snow Tuesday on Oct. 30, 2023.

As for what's causing cold weather after a mild autumn, NWS meteorologist Rich Mamrosh said the jet stream pattern "flipped" and is now carrying cold air from Siberia and Canada down to the Great Lakes.

Despite the burst of wintry weather Tuesday, Halloween 2023 isn't forecast to be either the coldest or snowiest Halloween on record. Halloween 1917 dropped to 18 degrees in Green Bay, while Halloween 2019 saw nearly 2 inches of snow.
